At 38, Zavier “Cade” McCade has it all: a military career he can be proud of, a successful business, and a close knit group of family and friends. A former Army Special Forces Captain, Cade leaves the military to create Custos Securities, a burgeoning protection agency that provides unparalleled security for both civilians and corporations across the U.S.

After a string of disastrous relationships—and a narrow escape from an abusive partner—Braden Cross is finally putting his past to rest. Combining both his passion for baking and his knack for business, Braden owns the Sugar n’ Spice Café with his best friend who concocts exotic coffees and teas that pair perfectly with his decadent confections.

When a stalker sets his sights on Braden, the young pastry chef’s world is turned upside down. More frightened than he cares to admit, and not knowing where to turn, Braden is relieved when Cade steps in to offer his protection. Caught up in a maelstrom of threats, break-ins, and vandalism, the two draw closer together. Braden eventually realizes that he can trust Cade with his life, but he finds himself wondering… can he trust him with his heart?

Author Luna David Interview

Luna David is a wife, a mother of twins, and now, an author. When she’s not begging her little ones to stop–throwing things, hitting each other, pulling the cat’s tail, having meltdowns, screaming, eating stuff off the floor, yelling at each other, playing with their food, running into the street, and destroying the house–you’ll most likely find her writing.

She loves anything book, coffee or dark chocolate related and can’t think of a better way to pass the time than to combine all three. She can’t remember a time when she wasn’t addicted to reading or creating her own stories, if only in her head. It wasn’t until recently that she began to believe she could actually put those stories to paper.

She is blessed enough to have wonderfully supportive family and friends and she counts herself lucky every day that she gets to not only be a stay at home mom to her kids, but to also pursue her dream of becoming a published author.

Business before Pleasure:

  1. What inspired you to write your first book?

The short version of the story is that I’d wanted to write a romance for a long time but nothing felt right really, until I started reading M/M and then it seemed like I couldn’t write down my ideas fast enough. It was exciting to finally feel like I’d found the genre I was supposed to find. Like coming home.

  1. How much real life do you put into or influences your books?

Not a huge amount of my own personal life in general, although Book 3 in the series (my current WIP) has Sebastian and he has a lot of similarities with me. Mostly it’s ideas/similarities that stem from things that happened to me or people I know or people I’ve talked with, but for the most part not full on scenes or characters.

  1. What is the hardest part of writing for you?

Well, I’m a stay at home mom first, writer second. So I don’t get a lot of time to do it. That’s an issue for sure. One that delays my book releases. But also just forcing myself to sit down and write rather than do other things, like get lost on FB.  😉

  1. What are your current projects?

Saving Sebastian (Custos Securities Series Book 3). I wish I was one of those writers that could write more than one book at a time, but I can’t do that. Occasionally, if I have a scene in my head from a future book, I’ll write that scene out just to get it out of my head bc sometimes it’s hard for me to get anything done until I expel that scene that’s stuck in there. But once it’s out, I go back to my current WIP and write until I’m finished.

  1. How do you go about choosing the title for your book(s)?

I’ll think on the big picture of the book. The main components that make up the story. I don’t have an outline on paper, but I’ll have a rough one in my head and from there it will just be a matter of choosing what fits for the MCs/storyline.

  1. What is your favorite genre to write?

Contemporary, hands down. But I love adding in the things that I love to read: age gap, BDSM, military/security, BIG character/small character, hurt/comfort, etc.

  1. Generally, how long does it take you to complete a book from idea to handing it over to your publisher?

Well, no publisher, as I’m self pubbed, but at this point I really have no clue. I know that’s weird to say, going into my third book. However, I wrote Books 1 and 2 as one ridiculously long book which took me around 8 months. Again, keep in mind I’m a full time stay at home mom, so I write only in the evenings when I have free time on the nights my husband watches the kids and I can escape upstairs.

Also, it wasn’t until I started talking to other authors that I was told what the normal size is for a long full length novel and when I explained how long Braden and Zavier’s book was (222K words), each of the authors had the same piece of advice—split the book in 2 or 3 separate books—which is why their story was 2 books. I do NOT want to do that again, so my goal is to work hard at keeping myself under 150K words for Book 3. Crossing my fingers that I can do it. 😉 But I still have no clue from a timing perspective, when I’ll be done with it.

  1. Do you ever use someone in your life as a sounding board for ideas or do you prefer to work alone?

Oh hell yes!  At the beginning I would ask my husband random questions, his answer was invariably, “Ask the google machine….” Not helpful! 😉 But one of my closest friends from college is also an author (M/F Romance) and I basically wrote Books 1 and 2 with her as a sounding board for nearly every piece of it. She was an amazing help. I have other friends that are either reviewers and/or authors and some of my Beta readers on FB now that I bounce ideas off of as well.

Most of the time it’s just me “talking/typing” to someone else that gets my own juices flowing and I’d say 80% of my problems get sorted by myself just going through the motions of talking it over with someone. But I have plot/character/storyline conversations with multiple friends. Some of the best conversations I’ve had are plotting conversations with other authors. It’s always fun to chat with someone about their book or my own bc it’s with someone that is creative in the same way that I am, so I get to chatting and before I know it, it’s been an hour and we’ve plotted out a huge chunk of a book.

  1. Do you travel to research for your book(s)?

No. I have traveled a lot in my life, prior to writing, so I suppose that helps, but being a SAHM doesn’t allow me the luxury to travel much.

  1. Did you learn anything while writing your book(s)?

Oh lord, yeah! Lots of research when writing books.  Things you never think you’ll need to research you end up googling. You want to have your facts correct. And though I’m sure I’ve made some mistakes, I do my best to research anything that I don’t know firsthand.

On top of that I’ve learned a lot more about writing itself, and self-publishing, and social networking.  It’s a constant learning curve, this career, and it’s fun to gain that knowledge as I go along.

  1. Have you ever had an idea for a book but never written it and what is it?

I have a ton of ideas swirling around inside my head. It’s just a matter of time before those ideas get used in my next book.

  1. When writing, do you have a process?

I have a very vague chaotic process. Usually while writing a current WIP, I’ll come up with new ideas for the next in the series or the ones after that. I tend to write down those ideas in multiple places and then try to find them all and piece them back together again. For instance, I have FB PM convos with ideas that I save, sometimes discussions in group threads that I save, sometimes I put my notes in Evernote, sometimes on a Word doc with the title of the book, sometimes on little e-sticky notes where I put web links or youtube vids, etc.  It’s endless and NOT a great way to go about it, but it’s what inevitably happens. What I need to do is get myself using one place for notes.

When I was writing Book 1 I started out with a big paper notebook and started a detailed outline. I’m talking major details. My problem is, I’m an organized soul trapped in a disorganized person’s body. I’m OCD in a LOT of ways and a completely mess in others. A bit of a paradox, I know.

What I find is that I love the IDEA of organization and some things I’m meticulous about, but when I tried to turn myself into a “plotter” (writing a full outline of the book) I got so bogged down in the details that I nearly wrote a quarter of the book in that notebook. When I was writing the book I veered so far off course that I wondered what was the point of the outline to begin with? So I stopped bc I realized if I kept doing that, I’d never WRITE the book, I’d just outline it to death. So now I have this “note taking” habit, but I need to do better at keeping my notes in one place going forward bc they get lost in the shuffle.  I’m basically a pantser that plots occasionally. 😉

  1. Do you have any advice for new authors looking to make their own literary statement?

Literary statement? Not specifically that. I guess my suggestion is to write what you love to read. It’s what you know best bc it’s what you’re passionate about reading. That’s your genre! That’s where you feel at home. That’s how it was for me, anyway. That and write. Write, write, write, write, write. And get on social networking and create your author network. Join book clubs/groups that read what you write, friend authors that write what you read. Put yourself out there and chat with people. Not only will you make long lasting friendships with great people, but you’re establishing yourself in your genre of choice and your voice will be one people are used to hearing, by the time your first book comes out.

  1. How many books have you written? Do you have a particular favorite?

I’m currently writing my 3rd. My favorite is always the one I’m working on. Until I’m not, and then it’s the next one that’s my favorite. For me, that’s how it has to be, bc I need my love/passion to stay focused on my current work so I can put my heart into it. There will always be pieces of characters that I love most or a storyline that really touches my heart, but those are on the side.

  1. Why did you choose to use a publisher instead of self-publishing?

I didn’t. I’m self-pub all the way.

  1. Where do your ideas come from?

Life. Things I see in the world, conversations I have with people, pictures I see online, things that happen to me or friends or family may start a tiny gimmer of an idea. I’ll literally be sitting down at the dinner table with my family and someone will say something and I’ll be like, OMG hang on! I’ll pick up my phone and type out whatever little glimmer of an idea just came to me bc of something someone said or something that happened to them or to me, etc.

  1. How many books do you currently have published?

Books 1 and 2 of the Custos Securities Series.

  1. Are you working on anything right now?

Book 3 (see question 4 above) 😉

  1. Do you have a favorite Hero or Heroine from any of your books and why?

Whoever the current Hero is from my current WIP. My favorite is always my current WIP.

  1. Do you have anything you would like to say to your current readers or to those that haven’t yet read your work(s)?

To my current readers: Thank you! I wouldn’t be here writing book 3 if it wasn’t for you guys cheering me on, friending me on FB, writing reviews, etc. Readers are the reason we keep writing. The biggest thrill I get as a writer, is a reader PMing me or posting on my timeline that my book made them laugh, or cry, or get angry but then get happy…  Or all of the above!  It’s like no other feeling!

To my future readers: I hope you enjoy my books. 😉 It’s as simple as that. Happy Reading!

  1. Doggy style, cow girl or missionary?

Missionary.  Boring, I know, but it hits the spot… Literally…

  1. What secret sinful pleasure do you keep hidden in your cupboards?

Coffee flavorings or some dark chocolate. Trader Joes has these amazing chocolate bars…. #ToDieFor They are Dark Chocolate with Carmel and Black Sea Salt. I’m telling you, just talking about it makes my mouth water.

  1. Are you a wine or beer kinda gal?

Erm… Neither. I’ll take a vodka tonic with lots of lime or a lemon drop martini…

  1. If you could go anywhere at all on your next vacation where would you go?

Back to Kauai, where I honeymooned. I want to retire there.  Ya know, when I win the lottery and things.

  1. If you could choose any hot famous guy to take with you who would it be and why?

As hot as that would be, I wouldn’t know him and he could end up a total douche canoe, so I’d prefer to take my husband bc he’s truly my soulmate. Sappy I know.

  1. Thong, Bikinis, Granny Panties, or Boy shorts?

Bikinis.

  1. Are you a dress up in heels or a jeans and flats woman?

Jeans and flip flops

Homebody.

  1. Tall, Dark and Deadly or Smart and Sexy or Athletic and Funny?

I’ll go with a mix of them. I like Tall, Dark, Smart, and Funny.

  1. Significant other or Tearing up the town free and clear?
  1. Favorite social network and why?

FB bc it’s where I interact with people most. Feels more “real” I guess.

  1. What was your “dream” job as a child?

I have the world’s worst memory. I can’t remember the “child” answer, but in my teens I wanted to be a zoologist or a marine biologist.

  1. What was the worst job you ever had while working towards being a published author?

I’m self pubbed and doing it while I’m a stay at home mom, which is where I want to be, so not a bad couple of gigs I got going. 😉 But my worst job ever was a call center between my senior year of HS and freshman year of college, trying to sell family movies to people. Man that job was awful!

  1. What would be your next best choice if not writing as a career?

I got nothin’. I had a career at an enormous company years ago. Great place to work, but the job itself wasn’t what I wanted, after a while. We had the twins and that was it. I wanted to be able to find something that I loved to do and be able to be home with my kids. I’m extremely lucky that I found my happy place in my new career…

The Forgotten

Naughty teaser

Rebecca held onto the soft rope holding her in place. She groaned as the crop hit her once again. The sting was far sharper than the sting of the flogger, but the pain morphed into pleasure. Travis had her on a sawhorse with a vibrator attached to her clit. Her legs shook as she neared the bliss her body strived for. Each strike of the crop brought her closer.

“You’re going to bruise this time, baby. When you sit down and wince from the pain, you’ll remember this.”
She was going to be wet all the time, because whenever she had a sore ass, she thought of Travis and all the wicked things he could do to her. She’d never thought she would ever crave pain, but here she was, about to come from getting her ass whipped. “Only you, Travis.” Her voice sounded hoarse to her own ears.
Travis flicked the crop several more times, and Rebecca went over the cliff with a soft scream. She felt her pussy clenching as the vibrator forced her climax.
Rebecca heard the crop hit the floor and heard Travis’s zipper. Travis untied her and moved her to the bed. He placed her feet on the floor and bent her over the bed. She grabbed onto the blanket moments before his cock filled her.
They both let out low moaned. Travis started thrusting into her over and over, hitting her G-spot at the perfect angle. Within minutes, Rebecca was ready to come again. She cried out once then felt the wave of ecstasy hit her. Her pussy convulsed around Travis’s shaft as he pounded into her.
“One more, sweetheart,” Travis commanded. “Give me one more.”
