Burning Submission by J Richards Interview

Burning Submission

Introduce us to the main characters: Vicki is a bit of a spit fire. She’s independent and sure of her-self but we see her hit some weak spots along the way. Gavin is a confident gym owner and Dom, who volunteers as a local firefighter.

How do these two meet? Gavin owns the only gym in their little town and Vicki is a member. They’ve noticed each other before but have never spoken until a man slap Vicki’s rear and she punches him in the face.

How would you characterize their relationship in one word answers, start, middle and end? In the beginning I would say, unsure. Vicki doesn’t really want to engage with the handsome gym own but Gavin is sure he wants more from the feisty redhead. The middle, trusting! Vicki goes through a lot in a very short amount of time and each event that piles on her shoulders, Gavin is there to bare the weight with her. For the end I would say…Loving? Vicki has found freedom in trusting Gavin and that grows into a love like none either of them have known.

What three words would you use to describe this story? Thrilling, It’s a little be of a wonder to what will happen next. Sexy, again I like to have some hot scenes in all my books, I’ve been told more than one of my works is “Pantie melting”. And Exciting, I enjoyed finding out how Gavin would work around Vicki stressers and help her find a way to trust him.

How much real life do you put into or influences your books? There is a little, I think books are better written if the author is invested and knowledgeable about the subjects. I am a vanilla bean who dreams in chocolate cover sprinkles though.

What is the hardest part of writing for you? The hardest part for me is my body behaving long enough for me to get the words out. My brain is almost always ready to write, but I have PCOS. A hormone syndrome that cuases chronic migraines and stuff like that. I also have tennis elbow on both the right and the left so my finger movement gets limited sometimes.

What are your current projects? Eek! I have four! I’m working on a fourth book in the Wet Series, a book with a female Dom, which is something I’ve never done before, a book about a military man (this one is old and I don’t know if it will ever be finished. And another that I’m keeping a tight lip about for now… but its gonna be a lot of fun!

How do you go about choosing the title for your book(s)? Good question. Sometimes the titles are there in the manuscript just waiting for me to pluck them out and when they aren’t I ask my beta reader for ideas.

Which of your books is your favorite and why? Ohh, that so hard to choose. I love them all for different reasons. Yes, Sir because it was my first published. The Submission Series because the location reminded me a lot of my home town but I think it’d be safe to say that Sinner’s is my favorite. It was the hardest to write but Nathan Battle is my all time DREAM MAN! For me he is perfectly flawed!

What would you want to tell your readers? How much I honestly appreciate each page they turn, the time it takes them to leave a review or write me a quick note. All these things mean so, so much to me. I never thought my dream of being an author would come true and it’s my readers who are making it a reality!

A Tinfoil Hat of My Own

Anyway, I was just stumbling down the trail, minding my own business, when I heard it: a cross between a woman’s scream and a witch’s cackle. Or a blow horn and a leaky balloon. Either way it was bone-chilling. I clutched my bottle of brandy closer to my chest. Not that I’m the kind of girl that takes a fifth of brandy into the park often, mind you, but Cobweb and I had just broken up and I was really depressed. It turns out he wasn’t ready for a committed relationship, which probably explains why he had lots of baby mommas, but none of them had given birth yet. There’s three months of my life I’ll never get back again. I mean, if you can’t trust a Hell’s Angel, who can you trust?

Well, perhaps we hadn’t ended on the best of terms, what with me taking a sledge hammer to his bike and all and writing about his mother’s private life on his clubhouse and giving tips to the police that I really wish I remembered to specify as anonymous. Needless to say I was a little edgy.

I walked a little farther, kind of paranoid, but of course it wasn’t a Hell’s Angel. It was a werewolf. After all, I flattened all of the gang members’ tires and set their cute little garage on fire. I expected a little more resilience in a garage that costs a million five, but it responded to a few pounds of C4 just like any other place.

So anyway, I didn’t really realize it was a werewolf at first. I thought, you know, ghost, or of course, zombie, but shit just wasn’t adding up. For instance, the weight that hit me from behind was substantial and fast and everyone knows that ghosts and zombies are neither. It also had sharp teeth, but I thought zombie teeth would be sort of dull and to be honest, kind of wiggly what with the rotting flesh and all.

Then I thought, well, duh, vampire. So I took the ring of garlic I wear around my neck (I’m a naturalist by the way, but I suppose you guessed that when I said garlic, right? The strongman of the earth’s perfumes.) and shoved it into the thing’s mouth. It was hard to wedge the garlic between his teeth and my spine, my hand sticky with blood and saliva and I was like, ew, gross, but then it started spluttering and I was like yeah, suck on that!

But then I got a look back. Damn, werewolf. Of course. So I was going to bite it on the nose like a dog, because I wasn’t wearing silver. The year before I had got to thinking that silver’s not really my color and so I had switched to gold. Not yellow gold, ick, but white gold. So anyway, I didn’t have any silver on me and I started to think biting him on the nose wasn’t going to turn out too well for me, so I decided to run.

Single mom, Michelle rents her basement apartment to a mysterious and sexy stranger named Kord. Soon the pair is embroiled in a steamy affair. Kord fulfils all of Michelle’s sexual appetites and she finds it easy to ignore the questions others raise about his odd behaviour. Spurned by the town’s sheriff, Drew, who informs Michelle of Kord’s spotty past, Michelle tries to discover the truth about who, and what, Kord truly is. When both their violent pasts collide in their conjoined present, more than just their future is threatened. Michelle’s life hangs in the balance as Kord struggles with a horrid choice: save Michelle or protect his true identity; lose his human lover or expose his true nature.
He let go of her wrists then, his hands moving to the waistband of her panties.

“Don’t move,” he cautioned.

Michelle lay perfectly still, watching him. He grabbed the panties in both hands and swiftly pulled them down her legs. He then lifted her legs with one hand as he removed the panties with the other. He dropped them on the floor beside the bed and then met her eyes again. His features were set, his eyes fiery and his need evident. Michelle’s eyes glanced down at his still very prominent erection and then her gaze moved up his body, over his thin waist and flat belly, over his slim but tightly muscled chest and the small patch of sandy hair there. She took in his strong shoulders and arms, the muscles standing out prominently against his skin, as did the veins in his arms. His hands were large and powerful looking, his fingers thick. Her eyes skipped back to his face now and the needy look upon it.

“Take me, Kord,” she pleaded.

“I will,” he responded, his voice low and gravelly, “my way.”

•Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood.
