The Submission Series Book One

Sometimes submission can be hot… Vicki’s never had a problem standing up for herself. So when a meathead at the gym grabs her butt, she has no problem punching him in the face. Gavin, the gorgeous gym owner, throws the guy out, and his tender, but insistent demand to tend to her injured hand makes Vicki hot. The buff, sex-god-come-to-life is everything she’s ever wanted, and he’s only too happy to show her how good sex can be. Gavin is entranced by the feisty woman, even though he already has more than enough on his hands with the gym and his work as a volunteer fire fighter. The last thing he needs is this bundle of contained fury tossed in his lap, but something about her calls to his inner Dominant. Not only that, her body responds to him like no other. But when he discovers someone is stalking her, it’s no longer all fun and games. Submission is all about trust…and after a brutal attack, trust is the last thing Vicki is willing to give…to anyone. FIRST LOVE BLOOMS UNEXPECTEDLY,  A sexy as sin criminal defense attorney walks into her college classroom one day as a guest lecturer and turns Jenesis’ world upside down. Michael is a man who knows what he wants in life… and he wants HER.

HEART ON A COLLISION COURSE  Jenesis’ world is again shaken to the core when Dave, her surrogate father, and Michael, the love of her life, meet and instantly despise each other. Will the two men in her life find common ground for her sake or will she have to make a choice that could break her heart?

Another nightmare filled with the same intense feeling of panic and fear, still grabbing at that little girl who hid underneath her mother’s bed to escape the monster…her father. My hands were trembling as I lifted myself leaning on my elbow, and using the other hand to rub gently on the tiny knot that was forming on the back of my head. I wiped away the tears with the back of my hand as the salty contents covered my lips. I leaned up on my knees and stood, slowly reaching over to the lamp on the night table, desperately trying to find the switch. I turned on the light and shook my head. God, Jenesis, you’re pathetic!

Twenty years old and you’re still having nightmares about your father. I sat up on my bed and leaned my head against the headboard trying to catch the last breath I felt I had. I glanced over at the door as I heard keys jangle and watched as the doorknob slowly turned.

savannahHot New Release you guys will love!

There is a hunger that blood alone cannot satisfy… Growing up in a world of privilege, Royal Gabriel never questioned the source of her father’s great wealth or his cruel enslavement of the human-like beings known as “bloodlings.” Now grown to exquisite womanhood, she can no longer ignore Charles Gabriel’s wickedness, especially after encountering his latest captive—the alpha bloodling pack leader he calls “X”—chained in the basement of the family estate. Royal is captivated by the sensuous power of this creature who is expected to battle to the death against others of his race in her father’s underground fighting arena. But only after she sets him free—after surrendering to his poisonous bite and raw passion—does she learn the alpha’s true history, and her bloodthirsty lover’s real name: Maddox. With bloodling venom coursing through her veins, Royal feels herself growing, changing, awakening like never before beneath the alpha’s tender touch. Now only Maddox can save her. But the inescapable demands of a breathtaking, forbidden love and the fire Maddox has ignited within her are leading Royal down a dangerous path, branding her a traitor and hunted enemy of her own vengeful bloodline.

A strange, distant noise echoed in the chasm of darkness in front of her. The wine cellar stretched on into endless shadows, and she got the eerie sense she wasn’t alone. Royal snatched another bottle of wine before rushing to the staircase. A low, doleful…was it a growl? Some kind of animalistic grumble carried from the black abyss. He sounded as if he was in pain. Was it coming from a “him” or a wounded animal? Curiosity drove her toward it. She took a deep swallow of wine, then set both bottles on the bar before wandering into the dark. Royal brushed her long brown hair behind her shoulders and grasped her arms to ward off the chills. She followed the sound through the cold, damp cellar. As she turned a corner, a sliver of light shone in a distant room. The growling grew more distinct as she drew closer. The space was lit by a tiny window just below the ceiling. The falling snow outside cast a white glow on the dismal scene. A man, no…he must have been a bloodling, stood in the center of the room, his muscular arms stretched upward, shackled to an iron chain that hung from a wooden beam along the ceiling. A dark shadow of hair covered his shaved head. Stripped naked, his well-built body had taken quite a beating, covered almost completely with bruises and scrapes. An intricate black tattoo stretched over his right chest muscle and shoulder, streaked with blood. His head hung forward, shielding his face. Britton sat on his heels on the floor, his face against the restrained bloodling’s groin, lapping at his exposed genitals with loud, slurping strokes. The bloodling growled a deep, miserable sound. Britton moaned, baring his teeth and gnawing lightly on the poor creature’s testicles. “Stop!” Royal found her voice, surprised at the authority dripping from her own tone. Startled, Britton scurried toward her, moving to kiss her satin high heels in apology. “No…” She took a step backward, uneasy and nauseous. “Thank you. Go, um.” Her brief venture into dominance had passed, and she attempted to regain control. “Fetch, fetch the wine for my father.” With a strange gleam in his dark brown eyes, Britton stared at her as he crawled out of the room. The chained bloodling hadn’t moved, his head still hung over his chest, his long lashes lowered. Against her better judgment, Royal slowly walked toward him. The swish of her silk skirt and hollow click of her heels broke the silence in the room. This must be X, the alpha pack leader Sebastian shot in the shoulder and captured. His dismal growls during Britton’s sexual assault pulled at her heart. He stood naked, broken, and vulnerable, not dangerous. His heavy dick drew her gaze, larger than any she’d ever witnessed, and she imagined what it would look like erect. A vibrating growl escaped his throat, and she stopped in her tracks, inches away from him. She didn’t have a plan, only a deep urge to see his face Tilting her head low, her gaze drifted up his beaten body to his tormented expression. His attractive features stunned her for a moment. X lifted his lashes, his blue-green eyes piercing through her. “Closer.” His voice was a gravelly murmur. Her heart thumped faster. Sensations stirred in her lower belly as she moved toward him. She tried to quiet her rapid breath. His sensuous lips would be so easy to kiss, but she held herself steady. “You’re going to torture me?” X twisted his face toward her, grazing his teeth along her neck. “No.” She shivered at the sharp fangs, lightly dragging across her skin. “Royal! Get away from him!” Gwen’s scream sounded distant as the bloodling sank his teeth into Royal’s shoulder. She gasped at the sudden stabbing pain. She tasted like a fantasy. He sucked on her silky skin, drawing power. His venom snaked into her bloodstream. Her tiny hand clasped onto his side. “Please… No.” He wanted to hear more of her begging. She grew weak, leaning into his body, and X felt it in his groin. Her silk dress brushed against his thickening cock, and a sensual growl rumbled in his throat. His jagged teeth retracted, and he drew back from her, baffled by his own body’s response to her. This girl was his captor, the enemy. She and her family used his kind as pets. Royal held her hand over the bleeding wound on her shoulder and stumbled backward. Amber-colored eyes stared at him as if he’d betrayed her somehow. Long waves of shiny brown hair fell around her shoulders, and X was gripped with the ludicrous urge to run his fingers through the thick layers.

Author Jesse Lorenzo

author jesse lorenzo I grew up in Upstate NY, but my heart belongs in Arizona. If given the chance, I’d gladly trade in frost burn, for sun burn! I speak in movie quotes ALL the time. Seriously, it might be considered a sickness by now 😉 I absolutely love the sound of others laughing. So I’ll try to get you to do just that!
I am married with three beautiful daughters and two fur babies. It’s a zoo here!

I love coffee, peanut butter cups, and OF COURSE reading!
I grew up causing all kinds of trouble with my twin sister/partner in crime.
My wild over-exaggerated story telling grew, along with my love for reading. With the support of my hubby and the encouragement of my womb mate, I put pen to paper, and let my imagination take over.

I am the author of the recently released, Forever Marked series. It is a romantic suspense, and the first book in a series. I enjoy reading all genres. Paranormal, thriller, romantic suspense, dystopian…. You name it!

What inspired you to write your first book? Forever Marked came to me as a very intense dream. The very first paragraph in Forever Marked was actually in my dream. My whole family has very bizarre and detailed dreams that we love to compare to one another. But this dream was reoccurring. I wrote chunks of the details down when I woke. My twin sister, quite literally, kicked my butt in gear when I had her read what I had. She inspired me to finish it. To keep it up.

How much real life do you put into or influences your books? The setting is a real place(Portree Harbor, Isle of Skye Scotland) and the folklore told is actual stories. My characters have their own personalities, but I do stick a piece of myself in each one. There is a certain event in the story with Ellora and her father at the Dr.’s office… That has happened in real life. I love you daddy.

What is the hardest part of writing for you? Making time to write. Which is usually late at night. With three kids two dogs and a hubby in a pear tree, it’s a hectic zoo around here during the day.

What are your current projects? An Anthology I’m in with 11 other amazing authors was just released in August titled Tales of the Night. My short story is a Forever Marked prequel titled Beauty Beneath the Mask. All the proceeds go to the Joyful heart foundation, a non profit organization to help against domestic violence. I am deep in the editing cave with book 2 in the Marked series, which I hope will be released early 2016. And when I allow myself some time to write, I’m cooking up book 3. Phew I’m tired just saying that. Pass the coffee.

How do you go about choosing the title for your book(s)? I practically wrote the whole book before it came to me in a scene I was writing and fell in love. “… I stumbled into Grady’s, forever marked and hiding in Skye.”

What is your favorite genre to write? I love writing romantic suspense, anything that can get my heart racing is my bag of chips!

Generally, how long does it take you to complete a book from idea to handing it over to your publisher? I’m still new to the game so my time varies depending on the book. Forever Marked took a year because I didn’t know what I was doing. The short story in the Anthology took about two months max and book two’s first draft is done and in the hands of my Betas.

Do you ever use someone in your life as a sounding board for ideas or do you prefer to work alone? I run everything by my womb-mate (twin sister)

Do your travel to research for your book(s)? Nope not yet. But someday I plan to walk in Portree Harbor myself. 😍

Did you learn anything while writing your book(s)? Always back up your work! Half way writing, my laptop shorted out and I lost everything! I had to start from scratch.

Have you ever had an idea for a book but never written it and what is it?

I always get ideas for a dystopian/apocalyptic novel, maybe someday I’ll tackle it.

When writing, do you have a process? I write at night when everyone is asleep so I won’t be interrupted. I pick out music that will go along with the scenes I plan on writing and get down to business. I hand write my work first. I don’t know why, but I’m more creative wielding a pen.

Do you have any advice for new authors looking to make their own literary statement? Get in with a writing group. They will uplift you and support you when you need it.

How many books have you written? Do you have a particular favorite? So far I have written three. Book 2 in the Marked series is my favorite so far. It is darker.

Why did you choose to use a publisher instead of self-publishing? I am self published, but I am in talks with a publishing house. We will see what happens.

Where do your ideas come from? The first book came to me as a dream. Once I sat down to write it out, a clan of chars oppress out of me, each with their own story to tell.

How many books do you currently have published? One book, Forever Marked and one Anthology Short titled Tales Of The Night. My story is a Forever Marked prequel titled Beauty Beneath The Mask.

Are you working on anything right now? hmmmm, I don’t want to give anything away. But book two is darker. It dips into the mind of a twisted person, with a painful past. The hate most feel toward this character in Forever Marked, will sympathize with him in Beyond Redemption.  Do you have a favorite Hero or Heroine from any of your books and why? I love Adelle, she is Ellora’s feisty, upbeat and supportive best friend. She will be a MC in book three.

Do you have anything you would like to say to your current readers or to those that haven’t yet read your work(s)? To My readers, Thank you so much for loving my Characters as much as I do. Love you guys! To new readers, if you love books that have a mix of romance and suspense to get your heart racing and love big burly Scottish men than this is the book for you. 😉

“Maybe she’s the one.” He said with a pat on his knee, making him feel like a cherub again sitting with the crones. He momentarily scowled at him before reaching out and prying his hand away from his leg.

“Even if she is, something is holding her back.”

“If anyone can get through to her, it would be you.” Aviur twisted his arm trying to free it from Dag’s grasp, but the other man held fast.

“And you.” He whispered, tugging the other man to him. He reached out with his free hand and slid it along his cheek caressingly before leaning in and kissing him softly.

“Oh shit, I’m sorry!” They pulled away unabashedly as they looked over at the door where Lena stood.

“How did you get in here?” Aviur reacted first, rising only to step closer to her as if inspecting her. He didn’t accuse her of anything malice, it was plain curiosity. Lena looked from one man to the next.

“Am I not supposed to be here? You told me to find you when I was finished.”

Dagon rose as well and came to her, staring at her in the same curious way as Aviur was. She suddenly felt uncomfortable, fidgeting on the spot under their scrutiny.

“No, I did… I didn’t expect you’d be able to find me here.”

“Is your bedroom off limits? I can go; I didn’t mean to interrupt.”

They both shook their heads at the same time in a strange reflective way.

“You weren’t interrupting. We were discussing something.”

“It didn’t look like that from my vantage point.” She muttered, but they both heard her and immediately both of them were grinning at her mischievously. No wonder Fae had a bad rap for getting into trouble, both of them looked like trouble right now.

“You don’t know how to discuss adequately.” It was Aviur who spoke first and stepped forward, grabbing her waist gently. She started only slightly and despite her rising discomfort she didn’t feel afraid or nervous. She looked from one man to the next, trying to make sense of what they were doing.

“Let the King show you how he discusses things…” Aviur moved around her slowly, never taking his hand off her waist as he came around to her back and all but boxed her in between their tall, muscular frames. Dagon chanced a single glance at his friend before nodding as if they were having some silent conversation while he stepped forward and slid his hand along the other side of her waist locking her in.

His free hand repeated the same gesture on Aviur as Dagon leaned in slowly. She felt a jolt course through her from her nose to her stomach. Her eyes were locked on his, entranced as his lips slowly came and pressed against hers.

It felt like the world exploded around her. The room around her suddenly went bright, and she’d gone deaf as her ears rung with a high pitched ringing. But as quickly as that all happened she was suddenly back between the two men, and it was them and there was nothing around them. Dagon’s lips were gentle on hers, slowly moving them with each deeper brush and she felt herself instinctively responding. It had been a long time since she had been kissed and she was almost sure she had never been kissed like this. She felt like she was floating as her mind dizzied. If they were trying to discuss anything she wasn’t sure how that was possible because she couldn’t make rhyme or reason of anything.

Author Kyleigh Castronaro Interview

Author Kyleigh CastronaroI’m fairly confident that I came out of womb reading the book. I’ve always loved stories in whatever medium they come. Books, movies, television shows… It didn’t matter. I didn’t discriminate (I still don’t!). It was only a natural progression that I become a writer myself.

I’ve been telling stories for as long as I’ve been reading. Even if it was just standing in front of my family acting out dramatic retellings of my day or making up stories of my own it didn’t matter. It was only a matter of time until I branched out into being a real writer and sharing my stories with friends and strangers alike. And you know what? It’s the best job in the world.

I write dirty, sexy stories about humans & their supernatural lovers. I grew up dreaming of being a Greek Goddess, not a Princess, so I wrote a book about it. In my Grace of Gods series normal humans find out they possess the souls of Greek Gods within them. They are whisked out of their lives and brought to Mount Olympus, thrust into the new and dramatic lives of their Gods.

What inspired you to write your first book? I used to be apart of the online writing roleplay community. Aidan and Savannah were a couple whom my writing partner and I created and their story exploded from there. After some time they lost their focus and one year for NaNoWriMo I needed an idea so I asked my partner if I could use them to write their story. After that it’s all history.

How much real life do you put into or influences your books? Not a whole lot since I write Fantasy. I will take pieces of people’s history who I know and put into my characters more than anything. I like talking to people as well and while I’m speaking to people I’ll learn things about them that I can apply to my characters as well.

What is the hardest part of writing for you? Staying focused. Once I sit down and write, actually write, it goes by so fast and I can be super productive. But if I have to google something it’s all downhill from there. I’ll be on Facebook, I’ll be on Twitter, I’ll be on Youtube. It doesn’t matter how much I want to write I have writer’s ADD. I’m still trying to come up with a good way to keep myself distraction free while writing, I’ll let you know if I ever crack the secret.

What are your current projects? Currently I’m working on All Hail the King, the fourth and possibly final book in my Grace of Gods series. I also am editing my Christmas story due out in a few weeks: White Frost. I have a few other projects started but none of them are taking my full attention right now and they’ll probably be on hold until 2016.

How do you go about choosing the title for your book(s)? Sometimes the titles come to me – the Grace of Gods series is easy as they’re all play on words of famous royal sayings. Other times I’m completely at a loss so I like to include my community and I often ask for suggestions on Facebook. My readers titled Desecrated Beauty and they voted for White Frost.

What is your favorite genre to write? Paranormal. I love the whole idea of different supernatural races living amongst us in the shadows.

Generally, how long does it take you to complete a book from idea to handing it over to your publisher? I’m my own publisher but if I commit to one project at a time it takes about two months. One month to write and one month to edit/format/publish. Now, if I REALLY focused. It would probably only take one month. I’ve never tried that, but maybe I’ll challenge myself to do that some time in the future.

Do you ever use someone in your life as a sounding board for ideas or do you prefer to work alone? Absolutely, I always run my ideas by everyone! Mostly my husband and writing partner though. She is usually the one who tells me if I’m on to something or gives me suggestions for better drama. We call each other brain twins.

Do your travel to research for your book(s)? Nah, I just travel. And if I like the place, it might end up in my book. To be honest though, currently the two main places featured and named in my books I’ve never actually been to (Greece and New York City).

Did you learn anything while writing your book(s)? I learned about myself more than anything and what I can do once I put my mind to it.

Have you ever had an idea for a book but never written it and what is it? Oh gods yes. Thousands! Where do I even begin…

.Tattoos randomly appeared on skin and you had to figure out what the meaning meant for yourself

.Memories are the dominant currency and a girl sells a particular memory that comes back to haunt her but she has no point of referral to help her.

.When you die your debt was worth your weight in gold – is your life worth it?

.Cupid hitting the wrong person with his arrow

The list goes on and on… I have an entire notebook dedicated to one line ideas. You’re not going to steal them are you?

When writing, do you have a process? Write. Haha, that’s generally what happens. I pick a story line and I sit down and I just get it out of my head.

Do you have any advice for new authors looking to make their own literary statement? If you plan to pursue self-publishing WAIT before doing it. Have a back list. You’ll be more successful and people will be more likely to trust your brand if you have more than one book on your backlist.

How many books have you written? Do you have a particular favorite? I have 9 written. I LOVE Desecrated Beauty. But then I love all of my books for different reasons. But DB is definitely the book I wrote for myself because it’s a book I would read.

Why did you choose to use a publisher instead of self-publishing? Self-published.

Where do your ideas come from? All over. Music, TV, other books, walking down the street and tripping over my own feet. I have a very active imagination that I have to thank for all my ideas.

How many books do you currently have published? I have 5 currently published.

Do you have a favorite Hero or Heroine from any of your books and why?

I like Quill, she’s a no-nonsense no-bullshit kind of girl. She is confident and deadly. I think more girls should be like her.

Author Caitlyn O’Leary Interview

Aviary Photo_130814500842968679What inspired you to write your first book? Back when I was reallllllly young. 4th grade. I knew I wanted to write. I’ve read so many books, from biographies, science fiction, horror, romance and true crime. Thirty years ago I bought a word processor and started my first novel, but I ended up moving up through the corporate ranks at Verizon so I stopped. Two years ago I was only working about 10-20 hours a week on a consulting gig and was bored, so I decided to write a book.

How much real life do you put into or influences your books? All of my books contain people and romance, so I would say that a lot of my influences come from real life. Now the part of my books that are menage, Navy SEALS and alternate universes, that is all imagination.

What is the hardest part of writing for you? Finding time. I work a pretty intense job these days, and I want to make sure I spend enough time with my husband.

What are your current projects?I am working on the second book in my Navy SEAL series called “Her Loyal SEAL”. That is Clint and Lydia’s story. I will have that coming out in December.   I will have “Beloved” the fourth book in my FOUND series coming out Feb/March. That is Dakota and Gabriella’s story.

How do you go about choosing the title for your book(s)? Good question. Each of my books have a format. For example I have one word titles for the FOUND series, and 3 word titles for the SEAL series containing the word SEAL. For Clint and Lydia’s story I was writing it, and realized just how Loyal Clint was to Lydia, and that was how the title came to me.

What is your favorite genre to write? Probably the one with the science fiction aspect. I love how my imagination gets to run free.

Generally, how long does it take you to complete a book from idea to handing it over to your publisher? It can take anywhere from 2 to 4 months. My FOUND and SEAL series are independently published by me. My FATE HARBOR Series, (The menage books) are published by Siren

Do you ever use someone in your life as a sounding board for ideas or do you prefer to work alone? I have some awesome Beta Readers, and I have some fellow authors that I talk to about my books.   I have sometime talked to my husband, but his eyes glaze over.

Do your travel to research for your book(s)? A lot of the locations for my books take place in places I have already visited.

Did you learn anything while writing your book(s)? I research a lot in my books, so yes I have. I now subscribe to Scientific American, so that it helps me come up with really cool ideas.

Have you ever had an idea for a book but never written it and what is it? Nope, not so far. LOL

When writing, do you have a process? Yes, whenever I have a problem getting an idea, I start swimming laps, and then it gets me kick-started. Thank God I live in South California.

Do you have any advice for new authors looking to make their own literary statement? READ, READ, READ, READ. You really need to understand the craft and the best way to do this is to read other authors. Then you get started, and just start writing. Also, have beta readers, it is imperative that you have feedback from “readers” NOT “authors” about your books.

How many books have you written? Do you have a particular favorite? 9 books. 5 in the Fate Harbor Series, 3 in the Found Series, 1 in the Midnight Delta Navy Seal Series. My favorite book is always the last one I have written.

Why did you choose to use a publisher instead of self-publishing? I chose a Publisher to begin with for Fate Harbor so I could learn the business. Then I decided to branch out on my own.

Where do your ideas come from? I don’t really know. LOL

Are you working on anything right now? I am working on Her Loyal Seal which will come out next month.

Do you have a favorite Hero or Heroine from any of your books and why? Yes, Sam from the Fate Harbor series. He appears in all five of my Fate Harbor books, and he has grown and matured so much.   I LOVE him.

Do you have anything you would like to say to your current readers or to those that haven’t yet read your work(s)? If you’re thinking of reading my books, just read the blurb and first page. That’s how I always decided to read a book. It’s a great indication of whether you’ll like the style of the author. My books might not be a good fit for you. Of course I like them, I wrote them. LOL

“Ah hell, it’s Sophia,” the cop said as he crouched next to the woman in Mason’s arms.

“How do you know her?” Mason’s head jerked up and he eyed the cop.

“She’s been looking for her brother again. He keeps running away from his foster home. She’s been searching for him the last four nights. I told her it wasn’t safe.” Mason looked down at the unconscious woman and agreed with the patrolman’s assessment.

“How much longer before the ambulance arrives?” Mason clipped out the question.

“How bad is she? What happened?” The cop nodded to where Mason’s jacket was covering Sophia’s torso.

“They just got her top off, but they cut her pretty badly on the arm. I’ve got her bandaged and most of the bleeding stopped. She’s going to need a shit-load of stitches. What’s the ETA on the ambulance?” Mason shifted her gently as he again gave the cop a penetrating stare.

“It’s about fifteen more minutes. There was a bad pile-up on the Five Freeway with fatalities. You did good work tonight. You military?” the cop asked as he assessed Mason.

“I was Navy too,” the cop said. “You okay with her while I work on getting these two assholes taken care of?” The cop nodded towards the two thugs who were sitting handcuffed in the alley and being looked after by his partner.

“I’ve got her.” Mason looked down at Sophia again ensuring she was okay. “What about the girl who made the call?”

“What girl?” the cop asked.

Mason looked around and realized the girl and his phone were long gone.

“There was another girl who looked like she’d been beaten too. She got me to come over here to help.” Mason gave the information like he was reporting to his commander.

“She must have taken off after she called for help,” the officer said.

“Oh no,” came the soft words. Mason looked down and saw green eyes clouded with worry looking up at him.

“What? Did you say something Sophia?” he asked.

“The girl is gone? She’s hurt.” It was hard to understand her through her bruised mouth.

“Settle honey, you’re hurt. You need to stay calm and rest until the ambulance comes.” Mason watched as she struggled to get up, and then cried out in pain. She collapsed against him. Fuck, it had to be her shoulder. He’d already taken off his shirt and used it as a bandage and a tourniquet earlier. He eased back the leather jacket that he had placed over her to see if it had come loose.

“Don’t move again, okay Sophia.” God, when would the ambulance get here?

“You’ve got to find the girl I think they cut her too. I’ve got to get up, I need to look for Billy. Please don’t hold me down. I need to get up, let me up,” she damn near screamed the last few words. Mason realized she was delirious. The cop looked over at him and he shook his head.

“Sophia, my name is Mason. We’re going to get you to the hospital. Do you understand me, honey?” He waited to see if she was tracking. She finally nodded. “Good, after they’re done taking care of you, you can come look for Billy again.” She relaxed a little, and he relaxed a little as well.

“And the girl? Can I look for the girl too?” she begged him with big eyes.

“Yes, you can look for the girl too.” He stroked the hair from her forehead.

“Do you promise Mason?” She tried to lift her arm to grab the front of his jacket and let out a small shriek of pain. “Why does it hurt?” He saw her start to tremble and wrapped his jacket closer around her ensuring it was snug so she couldn’t move her arms any longer.

“Are you warm now?”

“Yes. Will I be able to go to work and then look for Billy tomorrow?” It took a moment for him to understand her, and when he did it took him a few seconds to formulate a response other than ‘Hell No’.

“I think you’re going to be in the hospital for at least a couple of days.”

“No, I hate hospitals, don’t make me go to the hospital.” He watched as tears dripped down her temples into her silky blonde hair.

“Honey, you have to go you’ve been injured. A doctor has to help you.” She was trembling so bad he was worried she was going into shock.

“I can’t afford a hospital. Can you take me home?” God, she was breaking his heart.

“Let’s see what the doctor says first.”

Mason heard the siren and Sophia must have heard it too. Somehow she pushed off the heavy leather coat. “No, no ambulance, no hospital. I have to find Billy.” She tried getting up one last time and groaned as she put pressure on her cut shoulder.

“You’ve got to stay still.” He couldn’t believe the compassion this woman had, here she was bleeding and bruised, almost raped, and her entire concern was for her brother and the other girl. She was beautiful inside and out.

Just then she gripped her head where he saw a large bruise and lump forming. He saw her green eyes begin to glaze over. “Honey, stay with me.” He brushed his fingers tenderly along her cheek willing her to stay awake.

“Mason’s a nice name,” her words were slurred.

Just as the EMT’s arrived she passed out.
